January Jumpstart XXVI on January 17 – 18, 2026 at the Comfort Inn in Oak Ridge, TN. We will have tracks in both Poetry and Fiction.
Poetry Leader Rosemary Royston
Rosemary Royston, artist and poet, is the author of Second Sight (2021, Kelsay Press) and Splitting the Soil (Finishing Line Press, 2014). She resides in the northeast mountains of Georgia with her family. Her writing has been published in journals such as POEM, Split Rock Review, Southern Poetry Review, Poetry South, Appalachian Review, and Feels Blind Literary. She is a former Assistant Professor of English, and currently serves as Main Street Director for the City of Young Harris.
Fiction Leader Jim Minick
Jim Minick is the author or editor of eight books, including The Intimacy of Spoons, Without Warning: The Tornado of Udall, Kansas, Fire Is Your Water, and The Blueberry Years: A Memoir of Farm and Family (Winner of the Southern Book of the Year). His work has appeared in the New York Times, Oxford American, Orion, Shenandoah, Appalachian Journal, Wind, and The Sun. Minick’s honors include the Chaffin Award, the Jean Ritchie Fellowship, and the Fred Chappell Fellowship at UNC-Greensboro. He lives in the mountains of Virginia.
